Salute Selma Co-Founder and Board Chairman Abina Billups states, "Salute Selma, Inc. has a history of honoring our foot soldiers and bringing the essential activism of the younger voice to the table. This year, we will begin a new pilgrimage of educating, honoring, and continuing the legacy by bringing college students from HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) across the state to Selma to work and organize. HBCU college students have always been the vanguard of the country's social movements. Salute Selma invites the community to join us as our programming and work continue across the nation in 2024. "

Salute Selma, Inc. will host several events honoring the 59th anniversary, including Masks We Wear On Social Media, State Senator Robert Stewart (AL-23)’s Annual Homegrown Soiree, Salute Selma’s Excellence Awards Brunch & Program, Salute Selma’s Networking Session, and Salute Selma Inc.’s Rise Up: The Art of Protest Conversation & Paint Summit (Paul Davis Entertainment).

Bloody Sunday, the Selma to Montgomery pilgrimage where scores of individuals from across the world gathered in Selma, AL, fifty-nine years ago to support the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, is commemorated each year by leaders and communities across the nation.
