Salute Selma On the Ground Logistics

 

Are you ready for Selma!   Salute Selma has been working hard to make each of your experiences a memorable one on March 1, 2020. 

 

55th Anniversary Bloody Sunday March 1, 2020 Activities. 

 

Ecumenical Service at Selma High School 

We will meet everyone at Selma High School in the Gymnasium at 10:00 am for the Ecumenical Service featuring our very own Bishop Vashti McKenzie as the Ecumenical pastor. The doors will open at 9:00am.

All buses and cars can park at the high school.  There will be seating for up to 1,500 people.  No registration is required. it is a first come first served event and open to the public.  

 

Immediately following the Ecumenical Service, buses should take their passengers to the rally from the school and drop them off.  

We are asking all buses to go over the Edmund Pettus Bridge and park until the march has ended.  

All passengers will return to their bus after the march for departure unless you stay for the Jubilee’s Post Rally.

The Salute Selma Rally:

The rally will feature all the Divine 9 National Presidents along with many other celebrities, HBCU Presidents, Masons and Eastern Stars, Links, thousands of collegiate, and many more.

After the Rally, we will line up for the March over the Edmund Pettus Bridge!

 

The March:

We will line-up with our banners and signs and join the crowd thousands other marcher to then march over the Edmund Pettus bridge. Please march over the bridge and please don’t stop and take selfies until everyone has crossed the bridge.

Post Rally:

After the Bridge Crossing for those interested in staying, there will be a Post-Rally with additional food/merchandise vendors and a Gospel Stage hosted by the Bridge Crossing Jubilee Inc. there is a $5.00 fee to gain entrance. This is not a Salute Selma event.

 

What to Bring: 

Please pack your patience.  It's Selma.  So, they're not equipped like a big city. However, the Planning Committee will have security, porta-potties, food trucks, vendors,

and etc. In case it rains, please bring umbrellas, ponchos, and folding chairs (for the rally).

 

What to Wear:

Please make sure you wear comfortable shoes. It will be lots of walking and standing.  Wear your colors or paraphernalia  Please bring banners and signs for the march

Service Parking Instructions:

Buses: Drop off at Selma High School on the 6 th Avenue and Broad Street side

Vehicles: -Park cars at Selma High

March Parking Instructions:

Buses: Drop off at Arts Revive then Park Buses across the bridge on the left side in front of the theatre

Vehicles: Park at Selma Mall near Highland Ave by Treasure Box Flea Market side or downtown parking on your own

Continuous Shuttle Service 11:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. from Selma High School, Selma Mall, Arts Revive
